The Healing & Rest Center of South Richmond

Why Healing & Rest?

By investing in community rest, healing, and rejuvenation, we can begin to repair the wounds of the past and set the Southside of Richmond on a new path toward thriving once and for all.

We are building a community centered around healing and rest, starting right here in Richmond, a place with wounds as deep and as old as our nation.

When we can safely breathe and rest, we can heal ourselves.

When we are in community with other people who are healing – we can heal our city.

When we heal Richmond, we change the trajectory of healing for our nation.

Science reveals more about the impact of stress on the body every day. We know that sleep impacts our long-term health. We can verify the ways that childhood and intergenerational trauma leaves imprints on our cells. We understand how ancient techniques like mindfulness, breathing, and meditation regulate the nervous system. We know how important it is for people to feel emotionally and physically safe.

Not only do we know so much, but we also have tools for healing that our parents didn’t have. We don’t have to keep passing on our trauma to our children.
