Director, Equity Improvement

Florencia Fuensalida is a passionate advocate for justice, equity, and community healing with over two decades of experience working with historically marginalized communities—particularly Latinx, refugee, and migrant populations. Originally from Chile, she moved to the United States at the age of 17, completed high school, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Family Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, she bridges cultures with deep empathy and a commitment to authentic connection.

Florencia began her career implementing life skills programs for women and families in underserved communities in Chile. Since returning to the U.S. in 2010, she has worked extensively within the Latinx community, offering social services, outreach, and empowerment-based support. In addition to her direct service work, Florencia has trained in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), gaining valuable expertise in equitable community engagement, organizational culture, racial equity, and fostering inclusion and belonging within institutions.

She also holds a certification in Personal Coaching, which she integrates into her work to support individuals and organizations in aligning with their values and moving toward meaningful change.

At Virginia Community Voice, Florencia first served as the Community Engagement Specialist for the Partnership for Housing Affordability. She now leads as Director of Equity Improvement, managing coaching and training initiatives grounded in the Community Voice Blueprint model.
